Despite high order intake in 2024, the members of VDMA Large-scale Plant Engineering are facing a variety of challenges. They are facing geopolitical tensions, regulations and competition from Asia with resilience and innovative strength.

The green transformation is progressing more slowly than hoped but is still providing strong impetus. As a key industry, large-scale plant engineering is making a decisive contribution to the transition to a low-carbon economy through efficient technologies and innovative solutions.

Improving the conditions in Europe is important for long-term competitiveness. However, initial positive approaches, for example in deregulation as part of the EU's Clean Industrial Deal, can only be a start.
