The VDMA sector group is the point of contact for all questions relating to machines and components for the battery production. The member companies of the sector group supply machines, plants, machine components, tools and services for the entire process chain of battery production: From raw material preparation, electrode production and cell assembly to module and packaging production. The current focus of VDMA Battery Production is on Li-ion technology. We research technology and market information , organise customer events and roadshows, hold our own events, such as the annual conference, which has established itself as an important industry meeting and are in dialogue with research and science on current topics and on joint industrial research.

The European demand for battery cells alone will generate a total of 155,000 jobs. These jobs are created both in the factories and in the upstream value-added chains. One fifth of these jobs are in mechanical and plant engineering. However, the jobs and added value are not necessarily created in Europe itself. References and unique selling propositions are decisive for the success of suppliers in intra-European cell production and globally.
For the production of Li-ion batteries, the process steps for the production of Li-ion cells, module/packs, components, all-solid-state cell and battery recycling are presented clearly and in detail.
The VDMA Roadmap Battery Production Equipment 2030 was completely updated, revised and supplemented by important aspects in 2018.
Our Executive Board consists of 15 well-known industry representatives from different sectors of the process chain. It determines the course. In cooperation with the branch office, the Executive Board coordinates tasks, activities and strategies in regular meetings.
As from 1 February the sector association EMINT has been added with the sector departments Battery Production and Photovoltaics.

Ten renowned company representatives from the EMINT sector form the executive board of our sector association. They define the course of the sector association with their expertise. Together with the employees of the VDMA sector association, the executive board develops strategies, activities and tasks that are adapted to the needs of the members. In this way, we ensure that we always act in a service-oriented manner and constantly adjust our range of services to the high innovation cycles of the industry.
The first general meeting after the foundation of the sector association Electronics, Micro and Nano Technologies took place in Erlangen. In addition to the new executive committee of the professional association, the new executive committees of the specialist departments were also elected here.
