In recent years, Augmented Reality has built up an impressive CV in the industrial sector – and moved away from hype to practical application. The number of opportunities to use AR for specific and useful purposes is increasing month by month, in the service area, for example. One subject of relevance here is the use of remote maintenance to take the load off the service area, and another is faster and better customer support.

People are a key factor in the successful implementation of new technologies. Early inclusion, participation and training for employees play a critical part here.

For its fifth Factory Tour, ProduktionNRW will visit Weidmüller Gruppe in Detmold, a leading business in the field of electrical connectivity and electronics. Participants will be able to experience a range of opportunities for the use of Augmented Reality, including the “Microsoft HoloLens” smart glasses. Weidmüller has also responded to the challenges of the digital transformation by making changes to its training and professional development processes and establishing an eAcademy to build up and communicate knowledge.

This event will take place from mid-day to about 5:30 p.m. on 27 September 2018 at the premises of Weidmüller Interface GmbH & Co. KG in Detmold.

Factory Tour

The Industrie 4.0 Factory Tour is an event format from ProduktionNRW that highlights opportunities and examples of how intelligent production can be put into practice. The Factory Tour is designed to show that Industrie 4.0 is no longer just a vision but is already a reality. Its goal is to let participants experience practical examples of Industrie 4.0 “live” and pick up suggestions for their own projects.
