What do Manufacturing-X, artificial intelligence and digital product passports have in common? They all require data with meaning and context. In order to simplify this and to save effort and costs in the long term, the mechanical and plant engineering industry is making great efforts to create data models. These are converted into OPC UA interface standards and then published. These standards can be used both to comply with EU regulations and to implement digitalisation use cases such as predictive maintenance. More than 100 specifications have already been published in the field of mechanical and plant engineering. The core of these standards is the OPC UA for Machinery specification.
This presentation will introduce the interface standardisation activities and the associated potential. The focus of the presentation is the base standard OPC UA for Machinery.
