Power Transmission Engineering
VDMA Power Transmission Engineering represents the interests of the largest supplier sector in mechanical engineering. We are the network for more than 220 manufacturers of drive elements, gearboxes, electrical drive technology and linear technology, who generate over 80 percent of the estimated production in Germany.

We prepare current topics in power transmission engineering for our member companies. We focus on technology, standardisation, market data, trade fairs, public relations and cross-industry dialogue. We provide impetus for technology trends such as Industry 4.0 and "Drive systems in Transition". In the areas of research and education, we use the synergy effects with "Forschungsvereinigung Antriebstechnik e.V.".

Increasing demands for comfort in automotive applications as well as legal requirements for stationary systems drive the constant reduction of noise in gearbox development. Another goal is the pursuit of the greatest possible power density and efficiency. The design of suitable gear modifications is becoming more and more important to achieve low noise excitation as well as high load carrying capacity.
