Florian Scholl: Machinery exports from Germany in 2025

Frankfurt, February 23, 2026 – The mechanical and plant engineering industry in Germany once again suffered noticeable losses on foreign markets in 2025. According to the Federal Statistical Office, exports fell by 1.8 percent in nominal terms compared with the previous year. Adjusted for price changes, the decline was as much as 3.3 percent. A total of 198.5 billion euro worth of machinery and equipment was exported from Germany to the rest of the world. This means that exports declined even more sharply than production, which shrank by 2.6 percent in real terms according to preliminary calculations.
