On 10 July 2019, the VDMA is organising an information day on corporate social responsibility. The focus will be on the National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights (NAP), the expectations that go along with it on the part of the Federal Government as well as possible implementation approaches for companies to the NAP.

Social responsibility, which also includes the observance of human rights worldwide, was explicitly agreed by the Federal Government in 2016 that business should also assume its responsibility more precisely. To this end, the Federal Government has formulated a so-called National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights (NAP), which requires all companies to voluntarily comply with their human rights duty of care and attention along their supply chains by 2020. By 2020, the German government intends to review the extent to which companies have already implemented this. If less than 50 percent fulfil the core elements required in the action plan, the federal government intends to take legal action. The VDMA is dedicating a one-day information day to the NAP.

Range of topics:
The following questions in particular will be discussed intensively together with experts and participants:
- Human rights compliance - what does the government expect (on a voluntary basis)?
- How can companies deal with this issue in their supply chains?
- What do customers expect from their engineering suppliers using an OEM as an example?
- What obligations do mechanical and plant engineering companies have, if any?

Benefits:
- The event offers you a well-founded overview of expectations and implementation possibilities as well as practical reports on human rights due diligence.
- You can learn more about the VDMA's arguments and discuss them with us.
- You will be able to speak to other stakeholders (customers, politicians and NGOs).
- After all, the Info Day is intended to encourage you to take an active interest in the topic of human rights.

Program: You will find the detailed programme in the annex.
