What do electrification and low-CO2 production in the chemical and petrochemical industries mean for heat-conducting pipes and units? Will we need fewer pipes, fewer controls and smaller or different process equipment in future?

We want to discuss this and the consequences of electrification for plant engineering and automation in the chemical industry with experts and industry representatives in this Market Talk. Speakers include Ralf Haut (Krohne), Dr. Frank Wohnsland (VDMA), Felix Seibl (ZVEI), Dr. Dieter Förtsch (Bayer AG), Prof. Dr. Stefan Krämer (Bayer AG), Matthias Rehfeldt (Fraunhofer) as well as Christian Wehling (Alfa Laval) and Dr. Marc Schier (Linde Engineering) and Ralf Küper-Rampp (Emerson). A joint initiative of VDMA Process Plant and Equipment and ZVEI.

The programme: Matthias Rehfeldt from the Fraunhofer Institute ISI will first present the findings of a study on electrification in the chemical industry. This will be followed by field reports and initial findings from the market. We will first look at smaller plants from the speciality chemicals sector (Dr. Froetsch and Prof. Dr. Krämer from Bayer AG will report), then move on to the view from the apparatus and heat exchanger sector (short statement by Christian Wehling, Alfa Laval) and then go over to electrification in large plants (Dr.Marc Schier from Linde Engineering will report on the e-furnace at BASF Ludwigshaven) and conclude with consequences for the automation of electrified chemical plants (Ralf Küper-Rampp, Emerson). This will be followed by a moderated debate by our experts Ralf Haut (Krohne), Dr. Frank Wohnsland (VDMA) and Felix Seibl (ZVEI).
