The strategic orientation of a company has always been one of the most important and comprehensive tasks of management. This is anything but new. There is probably no shortage of ideas for strategy development. And yet it is often not so easy to implement them consistently.

Perhaps there were also times when this was simply easier. After all, you are confronted with increasing and more complex market and environmental requirements: Regulatory requirements, geopolitics, digitalization, (de)globalization and sustainability are just the main ones. On the other hand - especially in view of the enormous dynamics of these requirements - suitable answers must be found and successfully implemented by employees in an ever shorter period of time using on-board resources. The general situation on the labor market is unlikely to provide much support here either.

The challenges are therefore growing - once again. Even experienced business leaders are therefore looking for new ways to effectively develop the strategy in their daily work and to ensure long-term success in an even more effective and targeted manner. There are more or less new buzzwords for the methods used to develop objectives throughout the organization. Coming from the USA, digital start-ups and tech companies such as Google, Objectives and Key Results (OKR) are enjoying a veritable triumphal march. Hoshin Kanri means "compass needle management" in Japanese and is successfully practised at Toyota, among others.

But what is behind these seemingly new-fangled concepts? Which basic ideas are relevant and what can work well in medium-sized companies? You will receive answers to these questions at the event. The framework will be provided by presentations from the consulting firm Vollmer & Scheffczyk GmbH (VDMA member company), which focuses on "new paths for mechanical engineering".

The event is exclusively for VDMA member companies and is free of charge for them.
