About the Official German Pavilion
Due to its importance and the importance of the Egyptian market, IWWI was not only renamed from EGYPT (EWWI) to INTERNATIONAL (IWWI) in 2024, but was also included in the foreign trade fair programme of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Action (BMWK) for the third time. At the 2024 edition at the beginning of December, a total of 106 exhibitors exhibited in Cairo in front of 8,243 visitors. A total of 13 companies were represented in the German participation.

Interested exhibitors can exhibit at the trade fair in 2025 with their own stand space or as part of the information centre in the Official German Pavilion. Details on the offer and the trade fair can be downloaded below. Registrations for the German Pavilion will be accepted until August 15th, 2025 via the AUMA portal. Please remember to apply for accreditation before registering.

About IWWI
IWWI with the slogan ‘Waters for tomorrow’ is once again taking place in November this year, explicitly from November 23th - 25th, 2025 and thus begins on a Sunday. It is not only supported by the associations VDMA, GSTT, German RETech Partnership, German Water Partnership and the Federal Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BMVW), but also by the following stakeholders:
  • Patronage of the Egyptian Prime Minister
  • MHUUC - Egyptian Ministry of Infrastructure, including responsible authorities and holding companies for water and wastewater management
  • State Engineering Authority - with large pavilion & project companies
  • International technical consultants & planning partners
  • Arab Water Week - with ministries from the region & multilateral organisations
  • International financing institutions & project developers

The high-calibre international conference ‘Waters for Tomorrow’ will take place alongside the exhibition - with a focus on innovation, sustainability and investment partnerships. Central conference topics are Water Resource Management & Desalination, Wastewater & Sludge-to-Energy, Smart Infrastructure & Digitalisation, Green Hydrogen & Sustainable Water Management, Industrialisation & Localisation, International Financing & PPP Models as well as the integrated Arab Water Week.

About process technology for water and wastewater technology in Egypt
According to the data in the VDMA statistics database, German machinery and equipment worth EUR 174.2 million was imported to Egypt in 2024 in the field of process technology (the VDMA defines this as the entirety of liquid pumps, industrial valves, compressors, compressed air and vacuum technology as well as process plant and equipment) for water and wastewater technology. Although this is a decrease of 3.3 per cent compared to the previous year, 2023 was also one of the most successful years for exports to Egypt in recent times, at EUR 180.1 million.

Imports of process technology machinery and equipment to Germany from Egypt also increased in 2024. After falling figures in recent times, imports rose by 36.9 per cent to a total of €5.6 million and are therefore at a similar level to 2022.

The reasons for the improved development can be seen in Egypt's more stable currency. With the emerging focus on developing water and wastewater supply and the weighted topic of desalination, there are also better market opportunities for German providers than in neighbouring countries. Egypt is interested in establishing German companies locally; this also became clear at the IWWI.

Further selected international and national trade fairs focussing on water and wastewater can be found here in the annual calendars of the VDMA Process Technology Forum, as well as with the support of the VDMA as applicant for federal participation or supporter in the following overview.
