The EU intends to ban the group of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) under the REACH regulation. This category of chemicals comprises at least 10,000 different compounds. Among them are fluoropolymers used in industrial products, especially under extreme conditions such as high or low temperatures, intense abrasion or aggressive chemical environments. These materials are indispensable as seals, valves or hoses in numerous industrial machines and plants.

After the introduction of the planned measures of the REACH regulation, the production, distribution as well as the use of PFAS would no longer be allowed. Therefore, a careful revision of this planned ban is of great importance. This requires a comprehensive scientific risk assessment for the substances concerned. It must be demonstrated that the substances in the same groups have comparable hazardous properties. Applications without relevant risk should continue to be allowed.

The purpose of the event is to explain the status quo and provide information on how to participate in the PFAS Restriction Consultation, which ends on September 25, 2023. Share your questions and thoughts with colleagues from other member companies and with the consultants.

The virtual event is aimed at specialists and managers from the fields of environment, substance policy, sustainability and management.

Moderation: Alexandra Dreyer, Kevin Löpke

A few days before the event, registered participants will receive a confirmation of participation and the technical details of the online tool including a dial-in link. If you are unable to attend despite registering, please send us a short message.

In the interest of efficient dialog, we have limited the number of participants. Registrations will be considered in the order in which they are received.

Participation in the event is free of charge.

Organizer

The event is offered by ProduktionNRW and VDMA North. ProduktionNRW is the cluster of mechanical engineering and production technology in North Rhine-Westphalia and is organized by VDMA NRW. ProduktionNRW sees itself as a platform for networking, informing and marketing companies, institutions and networks among themselves and along the value chain. Significant parts of the services provided by ProduktionNRW are funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
