About the fair
Rio Oil & Gas was founded in 1982 and has been held every two years since then, formerly at the Riocentro Convention Centre, now at Pier Maua in Rio de Janeiro. It is considered the leading event for the oil and gas industry in Latin America and the most important technology platform for positioning European players in the Brazilian market.

The focus of the fair is on products from the fields of natural gas and oil technologies including exploration technology, refining and petrochemical plants, offshore technology and bio-fuels (new technologies and sustainability).

While a few years ago the show regularly sold out, the last two editions have shrunk to just four or five halls. Nevertheless, the event remains the leading industry trade show in Latin America and a must-attend event for all companies operating in Brazil. As a trade show and conference, it also offers an extensive supporting program. In addition, a German-Brazilian business initiation trip, also organized by AHK Rio and VDMA, will take place the week before the event.

German-European Pavilion
At Rio Oil & Gas (September, 26th - 29th, 2022), VDMA will support the German-European Pavilion, which is organized by AHK Rio. Therefore the Pavilion is available to German as well as European members at a discounted price. There is a choice between two different stand concepts and a table-top option, the well-known concepts stand construction concept of the last federal participations will be used. This time, the location is particularly lucratively situated next to the Petrobras stand in Hall 4.

VDMA has accompanied the event without interruption for ten years. Ten to twenty companies from Germany have always exhibited at the German Pavilions under the federal participation. In addition, there are about another 20 - 30 VDMA members who regularly exhibit through their local branches or representatives. In total, 401 exhibitors were represented in 2018, including 31 from Germany.

VDMA in Brazil
The VDMA is supporting the organization of the German Pavilion in terms of content and expertise and, together with the AHK Rio, is looking after the exhibitors on site. It is supported by its own local presence: the VDMA Brazil office, which has been in existence for seven years.
