Presence-Erfa: End-to-end digital CAD/CAM process chain

sMEs have been feeling the pressure for ever shorter production cycles, ever lower costs and ever smaller batch sizes for a long time. However, in many cases, no end-to-end solution is used in product development and manufacturing today. Designers create 3D models of components using CAD software, then derive 2D drawings that have to be manually converted back into an NC program. Additional third-party programming systems are often used for this purpose, which means that a lot of information from the 3D model, such as tolerance specifications, falls by the wayside. The consequences are additional effort and possible sources of error, such as outdated manufacturing programs in the event of a model change.

Closer integration of design and manufacturing has many advantages: With end-to-end CAD/CAM systems, design and NC programming can take place in the same system and on the same database. This means that machine simulation can be carried out at an early stage, preventing collision damage to the machine and the component from the outset. this reduces downtime and increases productive machine uptime.

In our presence erfa at Reutlingen University, you will learn how productivity in manufacturing can be increased through a continuous CAD/CAM process chain. We will present software and best practice examples so that you can make informed decisions and exchange ideas with each other.
